Scream Fortress is coming early! You're used to News posts about competitive events, but this will probably be the last post you were expecting! Beginning September 16th, there will be a community-run, competitive, Highlander, Halloween tournament fully loaded with bosses, spells, pumpkin bombs and best of all: real life medals for every participant! (You can view the medals HERE!)
The goal of this event is to enjoy all of the Scream Fortress Halloween maps. It should be treated as a very casual event with the intention of just having a good time! While the event is primary North American for the time being, all players of every region are welcome to join.

The Moscow LAN is an annual TF2 6v6 competition and it's back to shake-up the community one more time!
The event will take place in Moscow at the Winstrike Arena on August 10th-11th. It will feature the best players from all around the country as they come together to make their way through two days of intense competitive gameplay.
It's free to watch, both "physically" and "virtually"! If you can't go and visit them, they'll be broadcasting all the action live on KritzKast's Twitch channel!
On the evening of Thursday, July 25th, a bug was introduced that allowed some older crates to grant an Unusual hat on every opening. We fixed the bug the following morning and decided to trade-lock the hats from the bugged crates while we evaluated the situation.
Over the past week, we have been discussing ways to address this situation with the goal of minimizing the impact on the TF2 community as a whole, while preserving the experience of customers who had simply opened a crate, made a trade, or purchased from the market on the 25th, unaware that a bug produced their item.
During our investigation we discovered that a small number of accounts acquired these hats and a smaller portion of those accounts acquired an exceedingly large number of them. Based on this, we've decided that if you currently own one of these Unusual hats, the first one added to your account will be made tradable. Any other Unusual you have received due to the bug will remain permanently trade locked. If you decide that you would rather not have these trade-locked hats on your account, you may instead elect a full refund on any number of them.
The number of Unusual items being made tradable represents about one month of the regular Unusual drop rate.
A few of you were concerned that you had done something wrong by opening a bugged crate, and proceeded to delete your hats. While we appreciate the concern, you didn't do anything wrong, so hats from bugged crates deleted before the tradable date will be restored to your accounts with the same restrictions described above.
Item tradability, restoration, and the refund support page will be made available in about a week's time. Refunds will be the full price paid for any hats, crates or keys bought on the Steam Community Market or Mann Co. store. We will post an update when that exact date becomes available.
We apologize for the inconvenience of this incident, and we’ve added safeguards to prevent incidents like this in the future.
Update Aug 16: One unusual per account has been made tradable as described above. Affected users should visit the following support page for information about affected items and to submit refund requests if eligible: https://help.steampowered.com/en/wizard/HelpWithItemBug

The largest competitive League in North America is about to get a bit bigger. The longest running format in competitive TF2 history will have a new home this Summer. RGL.gg is starting up a traditional 6v6 on July 23rd. We are happy to announce that we are expecting a prize pool of $8,000 and already have a starting Invite team list of Froyotech, Ascent, Ford Gaming, Kings Crew, Dunk Masters, and more...
But don't worry, you don't have to play against Froyotech. We are expecting to have 5-6 divisions based on skill. So everyone can play in a match which is fair and competitive. Doesn't matter if you're brand new to competitive TF2 or a seasoned veteran. Everyone has a place in our league!
For players who are playing in our Open division (players who are newer to comp), that division is completely free to play! For all of the divisions above, they all will have a prize pool with a reasonable division entry fee. You can find more information about that on our registration page. Open will play once a week on Wednesday nights and most other divisions will play twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
If you need help finding a team, go to our registration page and click on the tab "Need help finding a team?" for information on how to find a team to play with.

Forget your scrims, forget your homework, this is what you need to be doing this Sunday night! The Sixth season of Prolander will be concluding Sunday night at 9:30pm Eastern. Cat Noises is the current reigning champions of Prolander from Season five, but Froyotech is back and looking to have the crown return to their head again. These teams met earlier in the season on borneo in, arguably, one of the best regular season matches in tf2 history. (You can watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z3rIyROpzgE)
Every round was so competitive and close, with victories, at times, coming in the last moments of the game. This was the first time that a Froyotech team was defeated, ever, in a Prolander match. However, this is not a one map series. Cat Noises will need to win two of the three maps to be able to keep their spot on the top. That'll be a tall order with how well Froyotech, lead by b4nny, adjusts their gameplay mid-series. During the semi-finals this season, Froyotech lost the first map against Prevail in a tightly contested 2-3 match. However, in the following maps Froyotech dominated Prevail on Ashville and Upward.
So that is the question that will be asked this Sunday. Will Froyotech continue their streak of having never lost a Grand Finals in Prolander? Or will Cat Noises be able to gain another victory over Froyotech to win in back to back seasons?
Find out this Sunday at 9:30 pm Eastern on http://twitch.tv/RGLgg
You can also subscribe to our youtube channel to watch the VOD if you cannot see the match live.

What better way to deal with the summer heat than getting some cool frags on the TF2 battlefield?! The third season of the $1,000 RGL Highlander league is here. Join the largest single competitive league in North America today! Highlander is a format of 9v9 playing on your favorite map types: Payload and KOTH. Class limit is one, meaning that every class will be on the battlefield at all times.
They have divisions for every skill level! It doesn't matter if it's your first season or your 20th. There is a division for players of your experience. RGL is about promoting a healthy community. This is done through taking a strong stance against toxicity and against players smurfing in lower divisions. They try to create a fun and fair environment for players to enjoy themselves against competition of their skill level.
The season starts on Monday, May 27th. All divisions outside of the highest one are free to play.

You think you've seen it all, haven't you? An endless sea of tanks accompanied by merciless automatons? Well think again, buster! Operation Memes vs Machines is here with the kind of tour that will knock your footwear AND socks off! Get ready for the most baffling battle of your life!
From the same team who brought you Operation Titanium Tank and Operation Canteen Crasher comes a silly, 7-day April Fools tour filled with nonsensical mischief. Rumor has it that the Robot Menace is under the weather due to a virus scrambling their programming. Now they're attacking us with lame internet jokes, and it's YOUR job to knock some sense into their metallic tin heads!
Gather yourself a team of fools to take on an army of fools in a grand spectacle of tomfoolery! Witness an intermediate-difficulty tour with different surprises and earn yourself a lovely little potato badge for your troubles! Starting on April 1st at midnight PDT, the tour will be available to play here. But don't delay, because while the tour is very tongue-in-cheek, it only lasts one week!
This event is open to players of all skill levels. Official servers will be available in Asia, Australia, Europe, and North America. Click here for more information!
Come back on June 1st for the next major Mann vs Machine event, Operation Madness vs Machines! (Postponed by 2 weeks from May 17.) Don’t delay on completing Operation Canteen Crasher, because it lasts only 6 weeks! (Operation Canteen Crasher will resume after the April fools event ends.)
Ever wanted to get into competitive TF2? Now's your chance! The European Team Fortress 2 League is running the Fresh Meat Challenge #2!
This competition is aimed at new, inexperienced players interested in playing competitive TF2. So if you're fresh meat, sign up before April 6th to compete! Every team can play with an experienced mentor to help them understand meta and play their best! Visit the ETF2L website for more info.
TFNew is an EU tournament and mentoring program for players new to competitive TF2 (maximum 2 seasons of experience, and nowhere above Open level). You do not need to have a team to play, simply sign up on your own (or with 1 buddy, if you'd rather learn with someone you already know) and you will be put onto a team of 6 main players plus potentially some substitutes.
For the next 2 weeks after you've been put on a team, you will practice with them and receive mentoring from your team's assigned coaches at prearranged times. On the weekend of March 8th-10th, teams will go into a group stage and then a double elimination playoff bracket to see which team will come out on top! Some matches may also be casted!
The goal of the cup is for players to learn the ropes of competitive TF2 while playing in a tournament with other newbies and learning from their coaches in a low-pressure environment, but there are rewards for just participating! Playing will earn you an in-game medal cosmetic as well as raffle entries into a giveaway of TF2 items!
Registration closes on February 22nd and for this cup the number of teams will be limited to 8, so make sure to sign up sooner rather than later!
If you'd like to participate, join the Discord server to find more info on the cup in the #announcements and #cup-dates channels. More general info and rules can also be found in the #rules and #faq channels.
